Match Ratings - St Mirren 0 - 2 Rangers

A wins a win! Today was about the three points, regardless of how they came!

ALLAN MCGREGOR - 7

Three big stops in the first half kept St Mirren at bay, from then on in it was all one way traffic. Hasn't had many clean sheets recently so another one will be welcome.

JAMES TAVERNIER - 5

Not great again, very guilty of forcing the play and tons of unforced errors due to that. Teams are noticeably targeting him to try and reduce his offensive play now, which he will need to learn to deal with.

JOE WORRALL - 5

Really sloppy today and starting to have a regular look of a last ditch defender which doesn't exactly inspire confidence. Think Katic coming back in on Thursday would be preferable for me.

CONNOR GOLDSON - 6

This is the most boring rating to right every week, didn't do much wrong. We're still guilty of leaving him in possession too much due to failings in midfield. Third or fourth game in a row where he should have buried his header.

ANDY HALLIDAY - 7

Another pretty solid showing, offers a good deal more than Flanagan offensively without a visible drop off defensively. Got a little cocky at times in this game and got caught out of position, but good performance.

RYAN JACK - 5

Again I could write this one every week. Neat and tidy without offering much offensively. We don't need a defensive mid in these games, so not sure what else he brings to the party.

OVIE EJARIA - 5

Started brightly, faded in the second. Had a chance reminiscent of his Ufa goal fairly early on, but it was blocked. Good in possession, sees a pass but everyone was erratic today.

SCOTT ARFIELD - 5

Very poor for me today, passing was noticeably awful. Injury will have upset his rythym but he'll bounce back, as he's one of our better players.

EROS GREZDA - 5

First start for the club wasn't exactly memorable. A quiet showing for the Albanian although he did hit the post with a decent effort in the second half. Replaced by Candeias early in the second half.

RYAN KENT - 5

Very surprised he wasn't rested, but it may come midweek in Moscow. Looked knackered again today, had one jinking run into the box where better decision making would have allowed him to roll in Arfield or Grezda but he elected to shoot and it was blocked.

ALFREDO MORELOS - 8 MOTM

Was a frustrating afternoon for Fredo, but he started to come into the game more in the last quarter of the game. That goal is fast becoming a trademark from him, it was the cleanest shot or pass he had all game!

DANIEL CANDEIAS - 5

On as a sub in the second half and his crossing was poor again, including the one which flew in the top corner! He gives everything he has, and never stops trying but as with a lot of the team lacks genuine consistency. Joke of a second yellow card, clearly shouldn't have been one.

JORDAN ROSSITER - 2

On with minutes to go for Ovie Ejaria to try and close out the game.

STEVEN GERRARD - 6

The sub changed the game, but it would be kind to say it was a tactical masterstroke from the gaffer! We got a little lucky with the goal and you could see the pressure lifted visibly from everybody. We've not carried that bit of luck in the last few games so fingers crossed its a catalyst.
