Seagulls 19/20 – Week 1

There was a time when MOTD wouldn’t bother showing the first league table as it was worthless. However standards aren’t what they were so here is the first of this season’s tables. Joe Soap leads from Declan Cairns and some well kent faces such as last season’s champion, Jamie Muldoon. Martyn edges Jack amongst the seagulls but it’s very early days. Name Points Joe Soap 10 Declan Cairns 8 Ian Huchison 7 John Graeme Patterson 7 Read more…

Match Ratings – Rangers 6 (Six) – 1 Hibernian

Ibrox was as wet as ever on Sunday, and it was also very rainy. Rangers took on Hibs in our first home game of the league season, and we put in a magnificent display to finally thump the side from Leith, having played well enough to do so last season. With the feel good factor still well and truly present following the Midtjylland result, a couple of players came into the side with a point Read more…

Simply The Rest – Week 2

SIMPLY THE REST – THE BLOG THAT PUTS UP WITH WATCHING MICHAEL STEWART SO YOU DON’T HAVE TO Motherwell 2-5 Celtic Despite Boli Bolingoli’s free-form interpretation of the left back role briefly giving us hope of an upset, Celtic eventually ran out very comfortable winners at Fir Park. Motherwell started well, dominating the ball and pressing Celtic high up the park, and were worth their lead taken through a nice strike from Liam Donnelly (ably Read more…

Match Ratings – FC Midtjylland 2 – 4 Rangers

Rangers travelled to Denmark for the first leg of our third round Europa League qualifier, a game that many people felt would be the biggest test for this revitalised Rangers squad. And boy did the team stand up to that test. In what was an excellent 80 minutes from the team (yes, that 10 minutes in the second half was not so good) we dealt with the early threat from the Danes, scored at a Read more…

SIMPLY THE REST

Simply The Rest – The blog that puts up with watching Michael Stewart so that you don’t have to. Celtic 7-0 St Johnstone Celtic began their quest to crush our hopes and dreams with a routine win over Tommy Wright’s frankly pathetic St Johnstone. Goals from Johnston, Christie (x3), Ntcham, Edouard and Griffiths did the job. Hopefully Cluj give them more of a game during the week, ahead of their trip to Fir Park on Read more…

Match Ratings – Progres Niederkorn 0 – 0 Rangers

It was a different kind of viewing for me as for the first time I went to an away game in Europe. With the 2 goal advantage in place going into the tie, there seemed little in the way of fear amongst the supporters gathering in the main square. Indeed, the march to the stadium, lead by the Union Bears, was a really great experience to be involved in. Sadly, that was the best performance Read more…

Match Ratings – Rangers 2 – 0 Progres Niederkorn

When you got sequels in action movies, the title usually comes with a “This time, it’s personal!” tag line. It certainly felt like that when we took on our foes from 2 seasons ago, with the atmosphere in the baking heat (has Ibrox ever been as hot!?) being electric from the get go. Our team reciprocated this, certainly at the start of the game, and it is a better lead that we take to Luxembourg Read more…

Match Ratings – Rangers 6 – 0 St Joseph’s

It’s tricky to be so analytical over a game that was basically done after two minutes, but there have been times where we have seen Rangers teams put in laborious performances against a similar level of opposition. Therefore, it seems right to praise the things that players did right in this game, as well as question aspects that we perhaps didn’t like as much in our first competitive game at Ibrox for the 2019/20 season.
